4 x 4 x 48 challenge!

Story

Starting on 8pm on Friday 30th April, I am going to attempt to run 4 miles every 4 hours - for 48 hours. Apparently, the sleep deprivation is worse than having to run 48 miles in 48 hours...but we will see.

Updates

12/12 - job done

3rd May 2021
Well - I actually did it! Run 8/9/10/11 were HARD! I felt so sick overnight but managed to keep the legs going - so thankful for those who ran with me! Run 12 was perfect! Sun was out - Ross kept me company (for most of it! ;)) and I dug in to make mile 48 the fastest of them all! Amazed at the total - thank you soooo much!

5/12 - quick update!

1st May 2021
Most of you will be following on Facebook or Strava - but just in case: I’ve managed 5 of the 7 so far, all under 40 minutes which is certainly a surprise! Had company from a mate for run 4 and 5 which helped to pass the time! :) can’t believe the total is now at £1,600! Crazy! Some agro from a hamstring but I am walking leg 6 with my little man Ted so that will give me chance to hopefully recover before smashing night two!!

So...just over 24 hours to go before I start this event. Aside from worrying about fitness/injury/my knackered shins, I have spent a lot of this week thinking about tactics and planning! I've watched a few YouTube videos of people attempting the challenge - and it is fair to say I'm nervous/worried! 4 miles - no problem...48 miles in 2 days with very little sleep...hmmmm! I've got some amazing friends (some I haven't seen for ages) running some of the legs with me, thankfully including the midnight and 4am leg on the second night. Between each run I aim to do one of two things...either have a light snack and then sleep for 2 hours or eat big and keep moving (stretching, walking etc.) Wish me luck!

Test run!

18th April 2021
On Wednesday (14.02.21) I managed to run 4 x 4 miles in about 9/10 hours. The last set of 4 was a real struggle - and I am still running them way too fast. I felt okayish though - and so this was my third and final test, and I've decided to just go with it and get it done at the end of the month!
